About Earl Soham Scouts:

Earl Soham Scout Group is a thriving group and we now have 2 beaver colonies (the "eagle" colony and the "kestrel" colony), two cub scout packs (Romans and Vikings), and now 2 scout troop (Falconers and Foresters). We have both boys and girls in the various sections with ages ranging from 6 to 14-15. The beavers cater for the 6-8 age range, cubs from 8 to 101/2, and scouts from 101/2 to 14-15. Once our scouts reach 14 (and before they are 15) they can then go to one of the local explorer units - the nearest one being the FRESH explorer unit which meets in Framlingham.

We meet on a weekly basis during school term although we also run a number of camps and outings which are usually at weekends.

We make our activities exciting and fun whilst at the same time promoting the physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual development of our youngsters. All the activities are run in accordance with the Scout Association policy, organisation, and rules and we run a progressive training scheme based on the scout law and promise..

A History of Earl Soham Scouts:
We haven't always been Earl Soham Scouts. We did start life as the 1st Earl Soham Scouts in the 1930s but then became affiliated to Brandeston School after the second world war. We only became Earl Soham Scouts again in the early 1990s. We recently heard that there was potential scout activity in 1915 in the village from cuttings in the village records. We may be older than we thought.

The Area we Cover:

We cover the catchment area of Earl Soham and adjacent parishes including Monk Soham, Worlingworth, Dennington, Brandeston, and Kettlburgh. Roughly the area is

We work closely with our nearest scout group neighbours (Framlingham and Otley) to make sure we provide the greatest opportunity for youngsters in the vicinity to enjoy scouts.
